The Hart Panteth

"As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God."
Psalm 42:1

I am a chocoholic.  Anyone who knows me will testify to that.  Chocolate is so rich and creamy....so velvety smooth.  I really have to fight myself to keep from including it in every meal and every snack.  I guess I "pant" after chocolate like the "hart panteth after the water brooks".  But look at what this verse says:  "so panteth (in the same thirsting way) my soul after thee, O God".  Not after water for physical needs, or chocolate for pure pleasure, but for God Himself.  Do we really do that?  Are we addicted to learning more about God and how to live our lives in the center of His will?  Those are treasures far outlasting the temporary pleasures or even supposed needs of this life.

My prayer for today:  Father, let my desire to learn of You increase daily and the pleasures of this world fade slowly away.
