Intercessory Prayer

"Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word."
John 17:20

Intercessory prayer is one of the greatest gifts God has given to us.  We have the privilege of praying for one another.  When my husband had surgery for prostate cancer last year, two different churches had prayer chains in action for him and there were two waiting rooms filled with friends and family praying and offering moral support.  It was a wonderful, freeing experience.  But we have an even greater gift.  According to the above verse, Christ, Himself, is praying for us.  What greater gift, outside of salvation itself, could we possibly have from heaven?  To be so greatly loved is beyond our comprehension.  If He loves us that much, shouldn't we love one another in the same way?  We should view intercessory prayer not only as a privilege, but also as a responsibility.  Let's remember to pray for one another.

My prayer for today:  Father, we are so grateful to know that You are always listening for our prayers and that Christ loves us so much He prays for us too.
