"And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."
Jude 22-23
There are as many different ways to witness as there are different ways to cook soup. Some people can be won with a message of love, leading them gently along until they understand the need of salvation and its' provision through Christ. But there are others who will never respond to gentleness and kindness. We read so much today about not preaching hell, fire, and brimstone; you might scare people. While I am not ad advocate of teaching fear, I realize that many people, mostly adults, will be won no other way. And today's scripture says to use fear if necessary. Being scared is better than being lost for all eternity. This is one of many reasons why witnessing is more effective if we allow time to get to know the person first. Then God can lead us to which method best fits that personality.
My prayer for today: Father, help me to always be willing to invest enough time in others than I can be most effective in sharing You with them.
