"Keep my decrees. Do not mate different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven of two kinds of material."
Leviticus 19:19 (NIV)
The bible is so full of instructions about our everyday lives, but we often overlook much of it. For example, doctors are telling us we shouldn't eat pork - too much cholesterol. Ditto for shrimp. Well, Leviticus 11:7 tells us not to eat pork and since shrimp have no fins, verse 10 warns us about it. Now in the above scripture for today, God simply says don't mix your fabrics. But a few years ago man came up with polyester blends which need no ironing. Never mind that they make you swelter in the heat. Well, I'm glad we are back to cotton, a fabric which breathes. Don't misunderstand. I don't want to go back to the days of ironing. But you know what? I bet the children of Israel didn't pack their irons and ironing boards when they left Egypt. They didn't have long enough extension cords. God always knows best. If only we would listen.
My prayer for today: Show us the simple everyday truths of Your Word, Father. And help us learn from You.
