Lift Up Your Eyes

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help."
Psalm 121:1

The key phrase for today is "Lift up mine eyes".  When we walk, I have this terrible habit of keeping my eyes on the path directly below my feet.  Believe me, walkers and joggers, that can be very dangerous.  There are over-hanging limbs out there just waiting to slap you in the face, and street signs which delight in bashing you on the head.  So look up.

The same thing holds true in our spiritual walk.  We need to keep looking up for our direction, not down at the path we are trying to walk.  As we lift our eyes, both physical and spiritual, we find new understanding and better direction.  It becomes easier to avoid the traps and pit falls waiting for us out there.  And as the writer says, when we lift up our spiritual eyes, our help comes from the Lord.  What better direction could we hope for?

My prayer for today:  Father, help me to walk close to You, looking up into Your precious face as I seek to find my way.
