Faithful Shepherd

"I am the good shepherd:  the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep."
John 10:11

This verse came to mind recently as I sat and listened to a friend tell of his trip to the Holy Land.  He remarked that he never saw a flock of sheep without a shepherd close by.  Sometimes the shepherd was momentarily hidden from sight, but if you look around for a few minutes, you would see him.

God is that way with us.  He is always close by.  He loves us and cares for our every need.  Sometimes, we might feel that we have lost touch with Him and we can't find Him in our lives.  But He is there, perhaps just out of sight.  We do the drifting, He doesn't.  Isn't it comforting to know that we can never be a sheep without a shepherd?  We have the words of Christ to count on.  Since He gave His life for us, He is not going to leave us now.

My prayer for today:  Lord, thank You for Your every act of love and caring toward me.
