Tickle in Throat

"Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
Hebrews 12:1

I have a lot of sinus drainage.  I get this little tickle which feels like a feather in my throat.  I can swallow hard, or cough, or clear my throat, but it seems to move neither up nor down.  It is a little thing, but irritating.  Many sins are like that.  They are tiny, but hard to get rid of.

This verse speaks of the "sin which doth so easily beset us".  Most of us are on the lookout for the big sins.  But those little sins of attitude or mindset are harder to root out.  They will move neither up nor down, it seems.  It takes both hard work and patience to keep on keeping on in our fight against them.  But eventually, just like the tickle in my throat, we can overcome.

My prayer for today:  Father, make me as aware of the little besetting sins as I am of the bigger, and more obvious sins, that together we might root them out of my life.
